Keyless Entry
The days of turning a key into a lock are slowly disappearing, and most new cars have keyless entry. You can unlock your car by pressing the button on the fob, or by grasping the door handle. This lets you keep your hands free and not need to dig around in your bag to find your keys.
The system works by the car sending out a radio signal that is picked up by the key fob which in turn sends a reply signal to the car. The car will then detect this and either unlock the doors, or turn on the interior lighting (if it is programmed to do that).
